Procedures
Academic Warning
Students on Academic Warning are in good standing but have had recent academic difficulties. A Success Coach or TRIO Advisor will contact the student by the end of the fourth week of the semester to arrange a meeting to discuss challenges.
Academic Probation
A student on Academic Probation shall meet with an assigned Success Coach or a TRIO Advisor who will determine the required number of meetings. In general, the number and frequency of meetings will be determined by the following:
-
- The first meeting will occur within the third of fourth week of the semester.
- The second meeting will occur prior to the eighth week of the semester.
- Any additional meetings will occur based on the specific needs of the student.
- At any time, a student on Academic Probation can request a meeting when support and guidance is needed for academic success.
An Academic Probation hold will be placed on the student’s record. The hold will remain until the student meets with a Success Coach or a TRIO Advisor.
Students on Academic Probation are not permitted to carry a load of more than 16 credit hours during the upcoming term if this is their first probation period. Students on academic probation for a second consecutive term, they are not permitted to carry a load of more than 12 credit hours during the upcoming term. If a student is already registered, they must reduce their class load as necessary.
