You made a great decision by choosing Zane State College!
If you are nervous about being a new student, we understand. That's why we offer orientation, which we call ZSC ROAR (stands for Rally for Orientation, Advising, and Registration), where you can ask questions, make friends, take a tour, and leave feeling energized. For these reasons and more, we require all new students complete orientation (this means you arrive on time and stay until the end). Once you complete orientation, you can schedule classes.
At orientation, expect to spend three hours getting to know ZSC (bonus, we get to know more about you, too). Learn about My Z-Online (student web portal), campus support services, financial aid tips, tutoring, and advising. Professors also attend orientation to meet with you and help schedule the classes you need to graduate on time. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend (sorry, but children are not permitted at orientation).
If you're wondering what you need to do to prepare for orientation, the list is short:
- Complete the math, reading, and English assessment test or place in math or English (within the last three years) based on your ACT score.
- Transfer students should submit an official transcript from other college(s).
If you are a transfer, returning, or distance learner, please call 740.588.5000 to talk with an advisor about your orientation requirements.
