College leadership is currently evaluating the implications of the directive released last evening, January 27. This directive from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandates that Federal agencies temporarily halt all activities related to the obligation or disbursement of Federal financial assistance. This is effective today, January 28, at 5 p.m.
The memo from OMB requests “detailed information on any programs, projects or activities subject to this pause” by February 10. The memo can be read here.
The US Department of Education has indicated that they do not anticipate this temporary pause impacting Federal Direct Student Loans, Pell Grants, and Federal Work Study. At this time, there is no action required on your part. We will continue to process financial aid applications and disbursements as usual. Should there be any changes, we will notify you promptly.
However, students could be impacted through the pause of services that include childcare, ability to pay for housing and/or rental assistance, and medical care.
It is important that you please communicate with your Success Coach or instructor if you are experiencing any inconveniences due to this pause. We are here to support you and have referrals should you need help. Please click here for community resources.
