Keeping your cellular number current is critical for user account logins with Multi-Factor Authentication.

What is “Bring Your Own Device"? Students bring their own portable devices such as a laptop, or tablet into the classroom.

To get you off to a strong start to earning your degree or certificate, all new students enrolling at Zane State College are required to have their own laptop or computer. This device will be used in the classroom, and for preparing for class at home. Your cell phone will not be an adequate substitution. If you already have a device, you are all set and ready for the start of classes. We do not recommend the use of Chromebooks.

Low to moderately priced laptops are available in the College Bookstore which allows you to use financial aid money to purchase your device. IT and Engineering programs may require specialized laptops not available in the College Bookstore.

 

 

All students and employees can now receive up to ten complimentary cybersecurity instances for their home Mac or PC. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Browse to home.sophos.com
  2. Enter your Zane State College email for verification purposes in the Email text box located at the bottom part of the webpage.
  3. Follow the prompts to register your personal email for an account or upgrade your existing account.

All students and employees can enjoy up to five devices of free Microsoft Office 365 for Education. This benefit offers Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote, Teams and Publisher applications. Students have access to this benefit every semester or term they are registered for.  Please see below for how to access the free software and installation assistance.

Mobile devices will use the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download Office 365 applications.  Apple MacOS computers and laptops will also use the App Store to download the Office 365 applications. The instructions below are intended for Windows computers and laptops.

  1. Browse to microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office
  2. Where it says to enter your school email address type in your Zane State College email address and click the Get Started button
  3. At the Microsoft license screen, click the OK, got it button to continue
  4. Login to your Zane State College Microsoft online account using your email address and password
  5. At the Microsoft home screen on the right hand side click the Install apps button and complete the installation

All students and employees have access to a full license of Zoom Virtual Meeting application. This remote access and mobile virtual meeting solution is designed to allow for flexible video and audio communication anywhere you have an internet connection. Faculty can meet remotely with students and students can meet remotely with other classmates allowing for easy collaboration and communication. Students have access to this benefit every semester or term they are registered for.  Please see below for how to access the free software and installation assistance.

  2. Under Zoom Desktop Client click the blue download button
  3. Double click on your downloaded Zoom Installer and follow the installation instructions
  4. Launch the Zoom application
  5. Click the SSO button located under the username and password boxes
  6. Type in zanestate for the company domain and click the Continue button
  7. Login with your Zane State College email address and password
